Employment

A primary objective of the business is to provide gainful employment paying award wages to Indigenous people, welfare recipients, people with a disability, the aged and long-term unemployed.

Please read through our objectives and criteria below, and if these qualities reflect your personal character and work ethics, please fill out the employment form at the bottom of this page.

Note: Potential employees must reside within reasonable driving distance of the Shoalhaven region of New South Wales.

Employment Objectives

To employ people with the objective of providing training and support to enable them to gain the confidence and skills required to work in a commercial situation. The skills gained are aimed to provide employees with life-long benefits both in the working environment and in whole of life situations.

At all times, open and accessible information is to be provided to all employees to allow the smooth running of the business. Feedback communication should at all times be encouraged and considered by management.

Employees are always to be integrated into the day to day operations of the business, and allowed to contribute ideas and suggestions at monthly meetings.

Staff are provided with manuals, training and support in all aspects of their development.

Employee Criteria & Requirements

Applicant must be willing to:

  • Work in a team environment, unsupervised (after appropriate training);
  • Have a reliable and clean car, with a tow bar;
  • Have a current drivers license;
  • Be honest and reliable;
  • Fit to carry out physical work as required by the job;
  • Prepared to go to TAFE or have on-site training.
  • Applicants must understand and agree to the following criteria:

  • To read, understand and sign a Drug and Alcohol Agreement;
  • To hold a current drivers license, and be happy to have a copy of this on the personnel file;
  • Have a reliable car with a tow bar (petrol expenses will be reimbursed as per policy);
  • To complete and sign a form indicating all medical problems and medication taken;
  • To hold a current Occupational Health and Safety Certificate and First Aid Certificate (or be willing to complete these courses at Essential Personnel or TAFE);
  • To attend TAFE on a regular basis, in accordance with the guidelines established and enforced by TAFE;
  • To work the hours which their portfolio requires them to work;
  • To work within the system and guidelines developed by ChewYing's Lawn & Horticulture at all times and work within the spirit of the Mission Statement;
  • To work within ChewYing's Lawn & Horticulture as a team member in all aspects including IT, marketing, client liaison, maintenance and repair of equipment, filling out of schedules, time tracking, financial management, training in horticultural practices and environmentally aware practices.
